Our Project
What is The Residency at Regents? Why should I join?
We are glad you asked! The Residency at Regents is an incarnational, eight-month teacher formation project at Regents School of Austin to help educational leaders - like yourself - explore and experience the hope of classical Christian education.
In simplest terms, the Residency seeks to help you do two things: 1) Explore and 2) Experience classical Christian education in real-time, in real classrooms, with real students, alongside real mentors.
Explore
The Residency is, first and foremost, an invitation to explore in a faithful community what it looks like to know, see, and live as a Christian who teaches with classical convictions in a contemporary culture averse to both. Our class time together will engage these four convictions—Classical, Christian, Community, and Culture—to help shape your character and the character of your future students.
Experience
Simultaneously, to help you assess your calling and excel in the classroom, the Residency offers you the opportunity to see classical Christian education firsthand from all angles of a K-12 school. As the diagram below shows, this 8-month Residency opens up virtually every door at Regents to help you experience everything our school has to offer:
From day one, your training with us is applied. You will spend time with Regents leadership—from the Head of School to the CFO along with the rest of the Senior Staff.
After time in each school on campus, you will focus on your discipline of choice, being paired with a Regents Legacy teacher who will disciple you to flourish personally and professionally as a classical Christian teacher.
Essentials
Now, you may be asking, “What makes the Residency distinct from other field experience options?” And, while there are really good options out there, we’ve found that the following essentials help the Residency at Regents stand out—and make it worth spending a few months with us in Austin:
